Digital Printing Forum :: Problem Rip/output some PDF, PDF Compression Problem
I am having issues outputting some PDF files and I am narrowing this down to compression settings (I Think). It seems like all the PDF files having problems are compressed using Zip Compression but if same PDF is run through PDF Optimizer and compressed as Jpeg they Rip just fine. What is this Zip Compression really and how does it compare to jpeg? Does this sound normal or familiar to anyone that Zip compression would cause files to NOT rip as opposed to jpeg compression used in pdf files? Also, I was reading about PDF/X standards, could it be that thi... - Read More at This Link..

if the object is vector (not too sure about a raster image placed) you shoud be able to use the direct selection tool and choose the point you want to move. adjust that point (either horizontally or vertically) and get your distorting that way. i know this works in illustrator but i can't promise anything in freehand. although my old and fading memory seems to think it should work. - Read More at This Link..

Hi All, I work with PhotoShop all the time in a Preflight and Retouching capacity. Most of our clients do not even know what dpi is, so I spend a lot of time using PhotoShop and PitStop. Might I suggest that you take a look at a very useful Automator actions package 'Photoshop Automator Action Pack - 3.5'. I use it daily for many needed actions and it works with CS, CS2 and CS3, and as a bonus its Freeware, very well written with a concise manual easy to understand. You can download it in various places but here is one to save you time. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/26569 Hope this help... - Read More at This Link..

1994 Corvette, Misfiring When Cold Start on my Corvette?

1994 Corvette, Misfiring When Cold Start on my Corvette?
==========================
It could be moisture in the distributor cap--94s are heartless when it
comes to this problem. My other guess would be bad ignition wires.
Ignition wires are notorious for acting weird when cold, and then
working properly when the engine and they are warmed up. A good way to
check if it is ignition wires is let the engine sit until it is
perfectly cold, preferably overnight, then while still night time and
very dark outside (colder and damper the better), start the engine,
raise the hood and look at the ignition wires. If you can see flashes or
a blue glow coming from any wire, then all of them should be replaced.

and I'd love to see the pictures of your project. If you proceed please
post them on my Corvette Pictures Gallery, you can upload them on there
and many of the members and visitors would be really interested in
that. OK, this is not scientific but my guess. The LS7 Corvette engine
is a lower profile design than an old V8. I really think it will fit
into there height and depth wise. There may be more of a problem with
length and width maybe. If you are doing this project I would love to
discuss it more.

After looking at this press at Graph Expo I have the following observations. The press has about the same quality output as the Kodak Versamark. It uses heads and print technology from Epson which is probably better than anything Kodak has. The limitations are around the paper you can use and how well the color will print on a given paper. Much like trying to run a non-epson paper through their inkjets you get extreme varying results. So, calibration to each substrate will be an issue. Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Pace Car for Allstate 400

Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Pace Car for Allstate 400

A Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will pace the field for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard on Sunday, July 29 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. A Chevrolet has performed pace car duties for all 14 editions of the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, one of NASCAR's most highly anticipated events since the inaugural in 1994. To celebrate Chevrolet's pace car tradition, each of the past 13 Chevy pace vehicles will be featured at the Chevy Racing display at IMS.

"The fact that a Chevrolet has paced every NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway since the inception of this event says a lot for our vehicles," said Ed Peper, general manager of Chevrolet. "Pace cars must be safe, reliable and capable of leading a field of race cars. We're proud to have our Corvette Z06 pacing this race and look forward to sharing that heritage with a special Chevy pace car display."

The Corvette Z06, designed using extensive race car technology, is the fastest vehicle ever offered by Chevrolet and General Motors. With 505 horsepower and 470-lb.ft. of torque, the Corvette Z06 leaps from zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 198 mph. The Corvette Z06 pacing the field is nearly identical to the 2007 model available in dealer showrooms with the only major modifications being the addition of strobe lights, racing safety belts and a unique paint scheme.

Sounds suspicious if you took it in for an oil change. If not then did you buy the car used - could previous owner have caused a leak by over tightening?

Here's how to get the answer. Go to a different dealer and ask:

Do you have an oil pan for an '01 C5 - if yes ask to see it... and inspect for stock heli-coil. Explain (only if you must) that you own one and you are concerned about the heli coil leaking.

If they don't have the oil pan on their shelf then you can check the diagram at their computer (it will show the heli coil part and number if one should be there). Just ask to see the diagram - they should be able to pull it up and even print it out.

Also, ask the price of a new oil pan - it may be a lot less than $1500 (prob more like $500).

Then ask them what it would cost if they replaced your entire pan ($1500 for a heli-coil job??? - Paying $1500 for a heli-coil fix is more like buying insurance 'cause this is a $75-$150 job (unless they are pulling the oil pan and replacing it ) I guess I'm misunderstanding you here. Do they want to repair it with a heli-coil and pass that off as a new pan? Or do they just want you to get a whole new pan>?

Corvette supercharged 600hp Z06 dubbed the "Blue Devil"

GM can't stand to see the already potent 500hp Corvette Z06 gazed down upon as a second rate supercar. Instead GM is developing an alleged supercharged 600hp Z06 with carbon fiber components dubbed the "Blue Devil" as reported by Autoweek in a recent interview with General Motors vice chairman Bob Lutz. Prior to the release of the new 427 Z06 the mags were guessing it would cost $85k and it came in at $65k. The 8.4 L big block is an attention getter. That comes out to something like 507 cubic inches which is very close to the current crate ZZ502. If they used that basic design and cast the block in aluminum which they have been doing and selling as ZL1’s (454 CI) – that would be a rather potent combo. These are all the new Mark VI blocks and are mostly used in boats and replacements for cars. They would have no problem getting 650 HP out of that motor or more and still run in a less tuned state than the current Z06. The big thing with the big block is the massive amount of torque availabe even at the lower RPM’s. With a supercharger it would probably put out 850Hp in a modest state of tune. The only problem with a big block is big thirst – all of them are terrible, thus Gm would not want to put too many of them on the street and pull down their corporate fuel economy. Even with a blower it is hard to figure how they would get much more than $70k for it.

The BD or super Corvette won’t be using a 7.0L V8. It will be using a supercharged 6.2 OHV Gen IV based V8 that will be a modified version of the one going into a performance Escalade, and possibly a higher performance Silverado varient. There were pictures of the truck varient leaked months ago so this should not come as a shock to anyone who keeps up with GM future vehicles.

For Sale, 1968 Corvette 427ci/390hp Turbo Vette Cordovan Maroon

For Sale, 1968 Corvette 427ci/390hp Turbo Vette Cordovan Maroon - The Corvette is believed to be a numbers matching vehicle, and certainly the engine is original to the car as the serial number stamped matches the VIN (engine stamped T1115IL ~ November 15, 1967 427/390 L36). The Vette has a 427ci., 390HP Turbo Jet engine with 4bbl Holley Carb (stamped 7028209), 4 speed manual transmission, and power steering. The mileage on the odometer reads 87,570 and all the documentation and receipts I have seem to indicate the mileage to be original. The engine and carb were rebuilt less than 8,000 miles ago. The engine has new pistons, plugs, bearings, and valve covers, reconditioned rods, bored cylinders, lifters set, and new Competition Cams camshaft. Also added was a Mallory Unilite Electronic Ignition, new pumps, new hoses, and new brake calipers and pads just last year. The engine compartment, floors, wheel wells, and undercarriage all seem to be completely rust free. The undercarriage is just a little dirty from local construction in the development. With under 8,000 miles driven since the rebuild, this Corvette drives great and shifts smooth, as you would expect. The car comes with various documentation and receipts from the previous owner. .

2005 Chevrolet Corvette C6 Forum

Sleek and aerodynamic shape. Corvette's of the early 1980s may have looked aerodynamic, but they created so much turbulence at highway speeds. Rumor has it that when they turned it backwards in the wind tunnel, it had a lower coefficient of drag (CD). Last generation of Chevrolet Corvette, the C5 had a slick .300 Cd. But this new C6 cuts that to an impressive .286 Cd.

OK, OK, let's get to with the main question about the 2005 Chevrolet Corvette C6 Forum, How fast is the 2005 Chevrolet Corvette C6? Top speed is a zippy 186 mph. It will launch you from 0-60 in about 4.2 seconds in the base car. Chevrolet's Corvette C6 has a better power-to-weight ratio than the outgoing 911. The C6 has been stretched an inch, But the 2005 Corvette C6 is a full five inches shorter and more than an inch narrower than last generation.

The Chevrolet Corvette C6 almost same footprint as a Porsche 911. The base C6 coupe is 35 pounds lighter, to 3179 lb. These seem like small improvements but the C5 was a great car, the C6 has small changes all over the place. When you add it up, it's a tremendous difference all together. The C6 Corvette has an LS2 V-8, a full 6.0-liters of heart, the sucker cranks an impressive 400 lb-ft of torque at 400 horsepower. The engine mounting has been optimized and weight balance improved to an amazingly balanced 51/49. For wimps and chicks there's a four-speed automatic. But any real man will want the new, six-speed Tremec transaxle. The gear level and the throw have been shortened. Having performance gearing, the Z51 package is almost even with the old C5 Z06 which was a bad mutha vette.

1986 Corvette Wheels, C4, '86 vette and 17" wheels.

(Q) I want to put 17" wheels on my c4. I found a website for AFs tires. does anyone have an opinion about this company? Other ideas? Will AFS know what offest I need to put 17X11's on the rear?
(A) These dealers advertising here are the top ones on the web. I would recommend checking with some of them and emailing them these questions. Get feedback from multiple sources. Or are you looking for original corvette wheels, like the ZR1 17" Corvette wheels? Many folks upgrading their corvettes with wheels will get the ZR1 wheels off a wrecked ZR1 salvage car. Pull those off and put them on your Corvette. That really makes a nice set of Corvette wheels. Good Luck, let us know what you get. Here's a picture of one with 17" ZR-1 Corvette Wheels..
