Graphic Design Forum :: RE: Is film photography dead in the water?
yeah i'd say its dead. my ex uses fuji sr3 pro's - 12 megapixels and the quality is stunning. couple that with say aperture or lightbox, bridge and photoshop and there's a whole massive world of capabilities far exceeding film based imagery. and if you feel particulary loaded with cash - go for the digital hassleblads...... _ expertise: nothing - Read More at This Link..

Prepress Software :: Fiery/Prinergy integration and limitations

Prepress Software :: Fiery/Prinergy integration and limitations
Currently looking at adding a digital press to our offset environment but I am concerned about the integration between the Fiery front end of the Canon C7000 we're looking at and our current prepress workflow system from Kodak. I know that Kodak resells the C7000 under the Kodak name with the Kodak nextstation that integrates with Prinergy but I need the feeding and finishing capabilities that Canon has and Kodak doesn't. Is there anything I need to be aware of when routing jobs from our current prinergy workflow into the Fiery front end of the Canon. I am to... - Read More at This Link..

Graphic Design Forum :: RE: Color Calibration Device
@ lamina Hi there and welcome ! I had never seen that video -thanks ELVIS (aka prepress guru) -- I was surprised when I heard the voice over say "the room may may change, but your monitor doesn't " yet they say in the You Tube notes "Huey adapts your monitor for changing room lighting" - a little confusing, but the fact is, once Huey helps you make a color profile to 'play' your images and graphic through, when the light changes in the room, it does change how that color displays - interesting idea. I bother to write simply to add that your ap... - Read More at This Link..

Prepress Software :: RE: Trapping Problems
Hi. I'm new here, and this is my first post. My company is a dealer for ECRM, and I have worked with Harlequin products, and particularly "easytrap" "Trapworks" "TrapPro" or whatever they choose to call it this week since version 2 on ms-dos...lol. Guess that makes me old. The biggest thing with this RIP is to keep it current. The current version as of 1-2008 is 7.2r1. 8.0 is promised soon. Versions older than 7.2 will not always behave properly with anything CS3. Note that 7.x to 7.2 is a free upgrade, except the cost of the CD. Older versions, don't even try to auto trap these files unless you can created ... - Read More at This Link..

Prepress Software :: RE: Recommended ink level
</b></i> this is a loaded question. Here are a few things you need to know first. What are the presses they are going to be run on. If it is a 4 color Heidelberg Speedmaster with all the bells and whistles, then it can hold the ink better than a 1965 4 color ancient press. The pressman makes a difference too. There is no real answer until you test out jobs, in my eyes. You could make a happy medium for each type of stock, but there is no standard by me - Read More at This Link..

Select your rectangle and then ungroup it (Modify &gt; Ungroup). It becomes a closed path instead of a 'rectangle' at which point you can use the direct-select tool (the hollow arrow) to select individual points and move them as you wish. - Read More at This Link..

Digital Printing Forum :: Problem Rip/output some PDF, PDF Compression Problem
I am having issues outputting some PDF files and I am narrowing this down to compression settings (I Think). It seems like all the PDF files having problems are compressed using Zip Compression but if same PDF is run through PDF Optimizer and compressed as Jpeg they Rip just fine. What is this Zip Compression really and how does it compare to jpeg? Does this sound normal or familiar to anyone that Zip compression would cause files to NOT rip as opposed to jpeg compression used in pdf files? Also, I was reading about PDF/X standards, could it be that thi... - Read More at This Link..

Prepress Software :: RE: Resolution in Display and POP size graphics?
Hello, Welcome to the forums. We need web designers to help out on the webmaster forums here. There's plenty of print people but only a few web designers. At any rate, yes the images are OK at 100dpi (at final size). If you resize the images (resample) it will make them worse in most cases. Maybe you can use some graphics or backgrounds that will fill space so you can keep things at an appropriate resolution. I would recommend from 100 to 150 dpi and you can go as low as 72, but never lower than that. If you think about scale and distance of thi... - Read More at This Link..
